“Good Materials, Good Workers Don’t Always Equal a Good Project”

uh-oh... something's wrong

Perhaps a building’s main purpose is to create an interior that is separate from the exterior (the environment). Long-term durability is of utmost concern, however we must provide a structure that can regulate air movement, temperature, humidity, precipitation, dust, smells, vibration, light and entry of undesirable creatures.
To accomplish this, contractors need a fundamental knowledge of building systems and procedures – even more than an understanding of accounting, marketing and land purchase procedures.
Contractors must have the experience to understand that, while on time and on budget is important, it’s more important to know the systems and processes that work together to bring the project in on time, on budget and at high quality.
Quality construction is much more than good materials and good workers. Doing the wrong thing with good materials and good workers will not produce a quality project. Like a puzzle, experienced contractors must put the workers and materials together in the correct systematic way so that all work together to achieve a quality project that is on-time and on budget. These management systems are …

  • Proper quality controls
  • Proper communication
  • Proper inspections
  • Proper budget controls
  • Proper anticipation of potential problems and heading them off
